BITS Pilani 1979 Batch Celebrates Grand Reunion at Bali Indonesia:
Distinguished Alumni of the 1979 batch of Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani along with their spouses, came together from several continents at the beautiful Bali island of Indonesia and witnessed a remarkable spectacle of reunion filled with fun, nostalgia, and some breathtaking sightseeing of the island. The main Reunion bash was held from 16th Oct. to 18th Oct. 2024 at the Ayodya Resort, Nusa Dua. Many batch mates requested a longer stay therefore the main bash was further clubbed with a 3 days pre (13th -15th Oct.) and a 4 days of post (19th-23rd Oct) tours at the Ayung Resort, Ubud. Meticulous planning went into the travel arrangements starting from airport pickups & drop offs for the families arriving via different flights from across the globe be it India, USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand and several other countries.
Each day of the Reunion started with a sumptuous breakfast at the resort followed by a preplanned sightseeing tour on comfortable buses with well educated guides taking them to Baliβs beaches, temples, volcanoes, coral reefs, waterfalls, Famous Rice terraces and beach clubs. Kecak and other local performances added to the joy topped by fine dining, singing and dancing at the end of the day. The echoes of laughter, the warmth of old friendships, and shared memories created many unforgettable moments for the batchmates.
The main reunion event was held in Nusa Dua on 18th October at the Ayodya Resort Amphitheatre and graced by the Indian Vice Consul Shri Lawlesh Kumar and his wife.
The VC was welcomed by the Coordinators and Conveners of the Batch reunion Shri Suresh Kabra and Shri Sanjay Gehlot. The program showcased the vibrant talent of the the 1997 batch and the vibrant culture of Bali. A local music band followed by a special fusion of the Indian Bharatnatyam-Balinese dance by Mrs Shanthi Menon brought the two cultures together. Shri Lawlesh Kumar also took the stage briefly to convey his best wishes and sang a Bollywood song. More dances painstakingly choreographed by the spouses of the BITSIANS were presented culminating with the whole batch swaying merrily to Bollywood themes. Truly the atmosphere was ecstatic.
As all good things come to an end so did the Bali reunion. The BITS 79 batch left Bali with many lifelong memories and with a promise to assemble again next year at another destination.
