Pushpa Thakurdas Vatvani, at 73 years old, is a pioneer in the introduction and expansion of yoga in Indonesia. Her journey with yoga began in the 1970s when she started practicing at the age the young age of 17. As the first Indian yoga teacher in Indonesia, she played a crucial role in popularizing the discipline at a time when it was relatively unknown in the country.

Over the years, Pushpa has shared her expertise in various esteemed institutions, including embassy offices, schools, and temples. Notably, she dedicated a decade to teaching yoga at Bina Graha, the presidential office, during President Soeharto’s administration. Her relentless efforts and dedication have significantly contributed to the recognition and acceptance of yoga across Indonesia.
