The Indian Association, Solo (IAS-Solo) is a community-driven organization established to connect and support the Indian diaspora and their cultural allies in the Solo Raya and Yogyakarta regions of Indonesia. The association serves as a bridge between its members, the Indian Embassy, and local authorities.

Objectives of IAS-Solo:

  1. Foster a sense of community among Indian citizens, OCI cardholders, and Indonesian friends of Indian culture.
  2. Organize cultural events, sports activities, and celebrations of Indian festivals.
  3. Conduct programs aimed at the development of children from member families.
  4. Provide social welfare services, including counseling, relief work, and donations to local orphanages.
  5. Serve as a liaison between members, local authorities, and the Indian Embassy.

Membership and Governance:

  • Membership is open to Indian citizens, OCI cardholders, and Indonesian supporters of Indian culture.
  • The association is managed by an elected committee that includes a president, secretary, treasurer, and other role-specific positions such as cultural and sports secretaries.
  • The committee is responsible for planning and supervising annual events and ensuring compliance with organizational rules and regulations.

Activities and Events: IAS-Solo organizes a variety of events, including cultural festivals (such as Diwali, Pongal, and Dussehra), sports activities, and community-building programs. These events aim to strengthen cultural ties and promote Indian traditions within the Indonesian community.

Community and Social Impact: Through its social welfare initiatives, IAS-Solo extends its support to local communities by providing relief aid, organizing charity drives, and assisting local orphanages. The association also acts as a resource for its members by offering guidance and support during emergencies.

A historic day for Indians in Solo – 8th Dec 2024

Indian Association Solo was established. The function was presided over by Mr Manoj Bhat (Honorary Consul Surabaya) with host of other friends and families in and around solo city. Office bearers are,
1) Mr Vinod Agarwal – President
2) Mr Vishwanath – Secretary
3) Mr Mudit Sharma – Treasurer
and 7 other working committee members.

Indian Association Solo also witnessed huge success with formation of Ladies Wing in the Association. 6 ladies voluntarily came forward for their services and contribution to the association and society in particular.

  1. Fusion of National Birds: The logo features a harmonious blend of India’s national bird, the Peacock, and Indonesia’s national bird, the Garuda, symbolizing the unity and cultural connection between the two nations.
  2. Integration of National Flags: The colors and motifs of the Indian and Indonesian national flags are artistically combined, reflecting the spirit of friendship and cooperation.
  3. Batik-inspired Background: The backdrop of the logo is adorned with a traditional Batik design, paying tribute to Indonesia’s rich artistic heritage while creating a visually appealing aesthetic.
