With this all-new high-speed bullet train, travelers from Jakarta can reach Bandung, West Java, in only 45 minutes, travelling speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour, and featuring carriages with luxurious interiors. The Chinese-made bullet train runs on electricity with no direct carbon emissions.

The train begins at Halim railway station in East Jakarta and passes through Karawang and Padalarang stations before stopping at Tegalluar on the outskirts of Bandung City. Each Whoosh train features eight carriages with modern design and spacious seating, equipped with WiFi, USB charging points, luggage racks, bag hangers, minibar, and accessible toilets. There are three classes that passengers can choose; First, Second, and VIP.

This first Jakarta-Bandung journey is the flagship route for Whoosh, with plans to expand the service across Java, including routes to Surabaya and Jogjakarta in discussion.

These ticket prices cover the journey from Halim station to Padalarang station, with the added benefit of a complimentary feeder train to Bandung station or the reverse route. The current schedule includes over 40 train trips on weekdays and 48 trips on weekends.

Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi, the Main Director of KCIC, stated that this promotion aims to boost public interest in experiencing Whoosh during the upcoming December 2023 holiday season.

Since its official launch on 17 October 2023, the “Whoosh” high-speed rail has accommodated 21,000 passengers during weekends and 18,000 passengers on weekdays. As of 22 November 2023, Whoosh has served a total of 491,000 passengers.

Passengers Continues to Increase ahead of the Christmas Holidays

The number of Whoosh Fast Train passengers continues to increase, especially ahead of the Christmas and New Year 2024 holidays. PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) is collaborating with six tourist attractions in the Greater Bandung area, West Java. The tourist destinations in question include Dusun Bambu, Farmhouse, Floating Market, The Great Asia Afrika, and Tepi Danau and Tepi Kota Healing. The cooperation provided is in the form of free shuttles and free entrance tickets for Whoosh Fast Train ticket holders.

After about a month of this program being rolled out, the number of visits to these tourist attractions increased. On the other hand, the number of Whoosh Fast Train passengers taking advantage of tourism promotions to this destination has increased fivefold.

From 17 October to 18 November 2023, around 670 group travel requests have been recorded with total ticket sales reaching around 54,000 seats.

The process of purchasing tickets for the Jakarta Bandung fast train or Whoosh for groups via WhatsApp can be done with a minimum requirement of 20 passengers. This provides convenience for prospective passengers who do not need to make orders using several accounts, because online ordering only allows purchases for a maximum of 5 people in one transaction.
