Makhana Laddoos, or else known as Fox nut Laddoos are a healthy snack that can be eaten by anyone of all ages. Not only is it delicious, but fox nuts are rich in fiber, sugar free, energy boosting at the same time gluten free and low in cholesterol. For this reason, it is also diet friendly compared to other desserts. Try this ladoo recipe at home for the festivals like Navratri, Diwali and enjoy with your family and friends.

Ingredients:

  • 4 Tablespoons of Ghee
  • 1.5 Cups of Mixed Nuts (Almonds, Cashews and Walnuts)
  • 3 Cups of Makhana
  • 2 Tablespoon Raisins
  • 1.5 Cups Jaggery
  • 1 teaspoon Green Cardamom Powder
  • 0.5 Cups Desiccated Dry Coconut
  • 3 Tablespoon Cold milk

Method:ย 

  1. In a pan addย  1 tablespoon of ghee
  2. Roast nuts, remove from pan and cool
    • Blend half into fine powder
    • Crush coarsely the other half
  3. In same pan roast makhanasย  till crunchy, remove and cool
    • Blend half into fine powder
    • Crush coarsely the other half
  4. In the remaining ghee, roast raisins for a few minutes and cool
  5. To same pan add jaggery and heat till it melts and add green cardamom powder.
  6. Lower heat and add powdered makhane, powdered nuts, crushed nuts and makhane and raisins into the pan.
  7. Mix well and fast, so the jaggery does not harden.
  8. Mix well until everything is well incorporated and turn off the flame and transfer into a mixing bowl.
  9. In the bowl, add the desiccated coconut to the mixture and mix well.
  10. Once coconut has been incorporated into the powder mixture well, add 2-3 tablespoon of ghee and mix well. You can skip or add less ghee in this step.
  11. Add the milk to the mixture and mix well. The milk will help bind the mixture so it comes together to be able to be shaped.
  12. Once everything has been mixed together well, start forming the mixture into a ball shape of desired size. Serve
