Pickled Fish Recipe by Shabana Akbany

Here is a delicious, savory way to cook fish by our favorite chef Shabana Akbany – Pickled Fish

Ingredients:

  • Fish fillets         1/2 kg – marinated with salt and white pepper.
  •  Mustard seeds   1/2 tsp
  • Garlic paste       1/2 tsp
  • Lemon juice       1 tbsp
  • Mango Pickle      1 tbsp heaped
  • Sweet Mango Chutney        1 tbsp   heaped
  • Fenugreek seeds 1 tsp
  • Zeera seeds       1 tsp
  • Kalonji seeds      1 tsp
  • Butter               2 tbsp   {to pan fry the fish}
  • Cabbage            1/2 cup finely sliced
  • Carrot               1   finely sliced

Boil  the cabbage  and  carrot  in 1  cup  water  and keep aside .

Method :

  1. Pan fry the marinated fish for about 5 to 7 minutes till slightly brown on both sides.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp of butter.
  3. Add in garlic paste. Fry till oil separates
  4. Add all the other spices
  5. Put in the boiled vegetables
  6. Sweet chutney and the mango pickle.
  7. Mix well. Add in the lemon juice.
  8. Stir well till fish is well done.

TO SERVE

  1. In a serving plate put salad leaves on one corner
  2. Place the fish in the middle of the plate
  3. And pour the vegetable mixture on top of the fish. Spread the vegetables and mix well on the fish.
  4. Put a spring of parsley in the center with a twisted slice of lemon on top.
  5. Your pickled fish is ready to eat.
