In the last few years the Indonesian spinning industry has been facing many challenges. Besides traditional rivals like India, Thailand and now Chinese spinning industry is also competing with Indonesian spinning industry in certain segments. The burgeoning spinning industry in Vietnam too, has posed a formidable challenge in front of Indonesian spinning industry on export front. Also major markets of Indonesian yarn like Turkey and Bangladesh are investing in their own spinning industry. Indonesiaโs traditional markets in Europe and Americas are shrinking rapidly due to various factors.
Despite these challenges, the experience acquired in last few decades coupled with disciplined labor, stable economy and good infrastructure is helping the industry to tackle these issues. Indonesia is way ahead of its rivals like Vietnam in learning curve. Even today it is a preferred supplier of quality spun yarn for the rest of the world.

In this rapidly changing scenario, PT Embee Plumbon has again decided to embark on new expansion plan with an investment of USD 100 million in next 5 years. The company has a new greenfield project in Majalengka with a clear focus on innovative products along with innovative processes to gain competitive edge.
โWe intend to deploy cutting edge technology to meet varied demands of our customers, as well as bring new products for the local market. We intend to join forces with our raw material suppliers and our customers to bring innovation in the value chain. Already we are developing new products with a clear focus on preferences of Indonesian consumers,โ shares Agarwal.
This would include fine Micro Tencel Comforjet yarns and super fine Micro Modal Air comforjet yarns. There is coordinated effort across the value chain to achieve this objective as the same products will be promoted later in export markets.
Agarwal believes that fast fashion is here to stay. Now the entire value chain has to adapt itself as per the requirement of the fast fashion type of retailing propagated by ZARA or H&M. The value chain has to gear itself for shorter and intensive production run. Gone are the days when one could relax for months after accepting a big order, now the order size has also become much smaller. However these smaller programs give an opportunity to make higher margin there by justifying the effort. Embee has prepared itself for such a scenario and it will continue to adapt itself to meet the requirements of its customers. Our new vision gives a high priority to flexibility in operations.
The effort to make PT Embee Plumbon a socially responsible organization has gained further momentum with various welfare schemes implemented successfully.
