Is Okra Water Healthy?

A new TikTok trend involves soaking raw okra in water overnight and drinking it the next day.

Okra is healthy as a food, but it’s unclear how many nutrients actually transfer into the water. So, drinking okra water may not have the same benefits as eating the vegetable.

Still, it could help with hydration, feeling full, and supporting gut health thanks to its fiber and prebiotic effects.

To try it, soak 2–4 sliced okra pods in a cup of water for 8–24 hours. Adding lemon, lime, or honey can improve the taste.
