During this coronavirus pandemic, most people are inclined to panic buy items for the long haul. Others might feel confused on what to purchase during these trying times, where we are all required to stay at home. Rather than panicking and buying everything that you might not need, calm down and buy items that would be suitable to use, eat and store for a long time.

Here are the things you need to stock up on during this quarantine period:

 Canned Food

The first and foremost things that you need to store at your home is food for your family. But not all food can be stored for 14 days, so it will be more likely to buy canned food that have a long storage life with little to no cooking required. Some of the recommended food that we recommend include meat products, fish, beans, soups, broths, stews, fruits, fruit juices, vegetables canned milk and powdered milk. It’s also important to be mindful of the consumption needs of the whole family, such as special food for babies, family members on diets as well as pet foods.

Drinks

Other than food, you will also need to store liquids and drinks worth a month in groceries. Water is the most important drink to have at hand, although sports drinks and shelf-stable juices are also drinks you should have in hand as it’s useful to replenish electrolytes in case someone becomes ill at your home.

Frozen Food

Not only canned foods, but we would also recommend you to stock up on frozen foods as they will last a while in your fridge. It’s also a great way to make sure you’re still getting plenty of nutrients during a potential long stay at home. Food you can store include meat, frozen grains, potatoes, fish and poultry. Frozen fruits and veggies allows you to whip dishes up quickly and can stay good for years. But that is not all, as you can use your freezer to extend the shelf life of fresh items like butter, certain cheeses, bread, and more.

Household Cleaning Supplies

During these times when you are required to stay home, some of the things that you think you wouldn’t need to get are actually a requirement at your home. Don’t forget to grab household cleaning supplies during your grocery run, such as toilet paper, paper towels, laundry and cleaning supplies, including disinfectant.

Comfort Foods

Even though we told you to grab items that you need, a little comfort food to soothe your stress and soul would do you good. Know the comfort food of your family members and stock up on chocolates, chips, biscuits or any other comfort food you can think of. Adequate amount of tea and coffee should also be purchased.

Everyday Medicine

Finally, you need to have medicine in hand in case someone falls sick at your home. This is especially important, as sick people meant that they will have lower immune systems, making them more susceptible to catching other illness not excluding the coronavirus. First-aid kits, prescription medicine, over-the-counter medicine you need on a regular basis are some of the drugs you need during this quarantine period.
